Why does he kill the Arab?

Meursault kills the Arab for no reason. There is no real reason as to why he had to kill him. The reason he does is because of the "Sun". Symbolizing some meaning but not even that is a valid reason. Haven had shot the Arab three extra times after he had fallen after the first shot was unnecessary as well. At that point he had crossed the line of Physio-path. He seems to not have any remorse.  At this point he doesn't care about the consequences of his actions. To think of it he never did. I feel like he lives in his own world and abides by his rules. The Arab is just another person dying to him. It just shows he unhappy he is.

    I don't think that is true. deep inside he went on the vacation for a reason and that it is to relax and enjoy life. But they were interrupted by the Arabs and he shot in self defense. Yes i do agree it was unnecessary to shot him three extra times. I believe he shot him extra was to get all that anger or hate or some type of feeling out that is inside him.
