I think Meursault is deprive from the lack of love from an early age and more of an honest person. He seems to be truthful and doesn't care about other people. For example when Marie asked him if he love her he was like he does not know or he wasn't sure. Being like Meursault can hurt people feelings and he did hurt Marie feelings because after he heard what Meursault said to her she was sad. In addition to Meursault, life is not all that important and he does not ask too much of life.

He knows his role well enough to play it to his best ability. Singled out or within a group he will either blend in or not. The reason he seems to be a kind person isn't due to his perspective, it's due to the outlooks of everyone. If I dran a glass of water and place it on the ground instead of the table what will the people around the table think if the only person around the table can't be seen. One must be there in order for feelings to occur. Once again it's a moment of time that Mersault in his dearest time is characterized.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good quote, Nishal. I think it's interesting to think of Meursault as a scientist. If we think of him this way, is he less of an "antichrist"? (p. 71)
