The Theme of Forgiveness

The theme of forgiveness is prevalent throughout the novel as one of the most essential themes in the book because it is how we finish the story. Ronald and Jennifer be able to let go of the issues that have been holding them back, or are in this case the true meaning of forgiveness. Ronald is able to forgive those who put him in a horrible position knowing that through it all he has finally achieved peace for he proved his innocence. The fact that he survived his judging peers, the contempt the town had for him and the dangerous of prison life, only serves to show no matter what happens he will stand strong. Jennifer is also I believe throughout the book able to forgive herself and heal knowing that it was not her fault for things she couldn't help. Most importantly, even though it was difficult they were able to forgive each other for the involvement they both had in the situations they were placed in.
