Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 102 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Cancer The Emperor Of all Maladies

Cancer is a disease that is commonly found in this world many children and adults are suffering from it. The film we watched in the class based on cancer named "The emperor of all maladies" shows that how small kids are suffering from this dangerous deadly disease. The drugs that are used in treating cancer can sometimes save life or can sometimes take it. I n this film there are two sides shown of cancer treating drugs on kids. The first child was Olivia she was 18 months old and she was suffering from cancer. She was given high dose of drugs to stop cancer from spreading and she was also given chemotherapy. After a long time and staying in close observations of Doctors Olivia was getting better and stronger day by day. She eventually got recovered from her disease but doctors say that you never know it can come back. The other child was Luka he was also suffering from cancer (leukemia). He needed a bone marrow transplant which was taken from her sisters body to stop the cancer from spreading. after few days Luka was showing good signs of recovery but there was something left by the doctors that was making Luka day by day weak. The doctors discovered that the bone marrow transplant cells were attacking on the cancer cells but they were also attacking on his liver, which made him more weak and weak. After few days Luka died because of his disease. The can work sometimes but sometimes they have side effects also. There are atlas 1 in 2 american men and 1 in 3 american women suffer from cancer.
