Alienation means isolating a person or a specific group of people due to race, religion, beliefs, etc.
Alienation is not just caused by others but is also a self-inflicted problem. There could be many causes for a person "alienating" themselves. One very common one is that they don't feel accepted into a specific group, environment, society, etc. There is also forced alienation for people that could have a mental or physical disease and someone does not want that person to be seen. Alienating someone or self-alienation has it's damaging affects on the individual or group in terms of possibly causing depression, suicide thoughts, self harming and more. There are different forms of alienation: Racism and sexism are two forms.
