The life changing event of Jennifer Thompson with the novel Speak-Priscilla Ortiz

      Jennifer had a horrible experience mark her life.  Being raped, is not something any woman should have to live with for the rest of her life. An event so drastic is something a woman would have to bare for a long period of time because her life after such event has now changed.  Jennifer's life changed after she experienced the  event, her life changed in ways she was not the same person she was before, she wouldn't do the things she was used to doing and everything in general changed in her life.  When someone gets raped, everything changes for them, their whole lives now become different the person sees life differently, they change emotionally and personally,  The person doesn't do the things they did before the rape and now feel as if everything is not the same anymore and nothing will never change.  The aftermath of such event can even be devastating such that, the person doesn't have a good support system to count on in the times the person feels down from remembering the event and what occurred.  In addition, the feeling of being judged for what occurred and it seeming as if it were the persons fault, when it really is not.  Having a good support system and people to count on is important to be able to feel that you have people to count on, and its good to feel how you are not alone and you can have the strength  you cant find yourself in that moment in someone else..  Although in some cases, Many go through What Jennifer experienced, not having a good relationship with her mother and her mother being concerned with what the people thought and not her own daughter.  In many occasions it does occur where, such things happen and it makes the person who just went through a horrible event feel even worse without the support of their mother.   You feel as if you have no where to turn to, as if it were a Dead end street.  In comparison to the Novel, Speak the main character also gets raped and she feels the same way, she feels trapped and has the feeling that she had no one to turn to and she felt lost.  she felt as if it were her fault for getting raped but it really was not.  The character of speak and Jennifer the Character of Picking Cotton, both have the same stories told in maybe a different way but who experienced the same event. No one should feel, its their fault if they experience such horrible  changing life event because its not! Its not your fault and with good help and knowing its not your fault you will continue to live.
