Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 102 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

Priscilla Ortiz- My reaction to the "Third time my father tried to kill me."

My reaction to some of the flash fictions was a sign of disbelief.  For example, the one of "The third time my father tried to kill me."  That story was unbelievable I couldn't imagine someone doing that to  someone else, especially their own child.  For me Its unthought of that someone would actually try to murder their own child, once when they were just a baby and many other times as time went by.  Its supposed to be that, when a parent has a child, they wait for them with joy to come out and be born, they will love them and care for them daily and regardless of the years that go by.  That the parents will watch their child grow daily and see how they change with time, how they grow and who they want to become one day.  On the other hand with this story it gives the complete opposite Perspective.  How? because this parent, doesn't care about his own daughter, he doesn't care of how she grows and doesn't show any interest what so ever in watching her grow along the way and becoming someone successful down the line in her life.  This story when you read it, even the title throws readers off, because now you can see a different perspective of things, and at the same time see what some people are capable of doing when they don't want a certain thing or person in their life.  Its really incredible how someone can even think of killing their own child, when others who really want to have a child, or cant have children and want to have children, really cant, but someone who has a child, doesn't appreciate and value the fact that They have a child, and they were given a very unique opportunity that they are wasting not loving and caring for their child, that many people wish they can love, care for every step of the way and every day, and watch evolve.  Someone, who doesn't love anything can have that opportunity and take it for granted.
