Mission Trail analysis

     In poetry, there is always a lot of styles and ways to write a poem.  There can be short lines, single line stanzas and long lines.  Also many techniques are used by the author to be able to get a point across to the readers and make the readers understand or get an idea of what the poem is about.  In the poem Missing trail, the author talk about the loss  of her dad and she uses figurative language in the first and second line she uses the words, ribbon and canyon trail to try  and figuratively say that the road was a ribbon in memory of her father.  She made the road seem like a ribbon.  She doesn't use rhythm for this specifically but with this poem she tries to explain that she did something in memory of her dad and something he would've liked to do.  She did something not many do to honor the life of her father after she found out that he passed away.  The tone  is a slow tone that because of the way the stanzas are written is a slow and fast pace.  She just explains that her dad passed away but she is not very descriptive of it, she just says it and explains it and what she did in a different way, rather then just saying oh he passed away and it was this type of way with details.  She tries to imply the analogy in my opinion, that she was doing something in memory of her dad that he would've liked to do, or that she was doing something he couldn't do so she did it for him. She uses similes I believe to be able to describe the feeling she felt as she saw that her dad died.  " Broken limbs whirling circles like, rust-colored rafts.." to be able to describe the sense of feeling that went on and what actually occurred as she was seeing and feeling that her dad was dead.  There is some pattern of figurative language and similes to be able to feel what the author is trying to describe and say about the event that she lived and experienced.  The line breaks are  short, being that the poem is two stanzas per line.
