Welcome to the blog for Prof. John Talbird's English 102 class. The purpose of this site is two-fold: 1) to continue the conversations we start in class (or to start conversations before we get to class) and 2) to practice our writing/reading on a weekly basis in an informal forum.

C) What types of stylistic techniques are used?

The types of stylistic technique that is used is simile and metaphor. The simile is used in the passage when it says "as much as mystery to you as bete noire as they were as man" compares the myster to something that he dislikes and for the metaphor in stanza four the passage says " Isthmus of upper lip" comparing an Isthmus to the upper lip.
